LaStone Therapy (Geothermotherapy)

Created by Mary Nelson in 1993, LaStone is the Original Hot & Cold Stone treatment, based on traditional healing practices of Zen philosophies and Native American rituals. LaStone capitalises on combining these techniques with a modern approach.

LaStone therapy treatment is a form of bodywork that uses the application of heated and cooled stones to the body to bring about relief to tired and sore muscles, helping to alleviate chronic and acute symptoms that many of us deal with on a daily basis.  The alternating temperatures applied to the body gives a deep penetrating effect on the physiological systems and assists the body’s self-healing.

The physiological benefits of thermotherapy have long been scientifically and medically proven and include:

  • The promotion of a natural healing response within the body
  • Alternating between hot and cold improves circulation, lymphatic flow and increases the removal of waste products
  • The use of warm basalt stones helps to relax the muscles through a combination of stone placement and massage
  • A combination of temperature through massage helps to increase muscle tone
  • The application of cold temperature helps to relieve muscular tension, reduce inflammation, scar tissue and promotes mobility
  • Thermotherapy brings about healing, balance and rejuvenation

LaStone therapy goes beyond the physical experience of massage, and enters a dimension of relaxation that enhances a positive ‘mind-body-spirit’ connection.

LaStone Treatment is tailored to each client.  A selection of warm basalt and cool marble stones are placed under the body, on the body and are used to massage you.  The stones are temperature monitored. It is a full body treatment using oils and will take approximately 90 minutes.
